INGENUITY
Small Sculpture Prize 2023
TERMS & CONDITIONS
The application and these terms of conditions are a contract between the artist and Ingenuity and both parties agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. Artists must be aware the process is in two stages. Selection of the finalists for the Small Sculpture Prize is the first stage.
APPLICATIONS
Open July 20th and close September 15th 2023 at 11.59pm
ELIGIBILITY
Artists of the NSW Northern Rivers region can apply. That comprises the Shires of Tweed, Byron, Ballina, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Kyogle. Sculptures will be exhibited indoors and may be produced in any materials. The artist warrants that he/she holds the exclusive copyright of the works.
ENTRY FORM
All entries are to be made online via our website.
Artists should take great care in communicating their concept or sculpture in their entry submission. The curatorial panel bases the decision on images, working drawings, the artist statement and biography. A clearly presented, well thought out and devised submission is highly recommended.
High quality images and proposed sketches including scale and elevation are preferable. A maximum of 5 images in jpg format, not exceeding 10MB altogether, can be submitted.
CURATORIAL POLICY
Ingenuity allows the artist full freedom of expression for all forms of sculpture. The committee reserves the right to refuse any work it deems unsuitable, or due to the size of the art work, or due to safety constraints. The work entered must not have won a prize in a previous art competition. As this is a curated exhibition, any selected works must be available for exhibition during October 4-16, 2023.
SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
JUDGING
Independent judges will conduct judging of artworks entered. The judges’ decision will be, in all cases, absolutely final and no correspondence of any kind will be entered into. A panel of selectors will select 30 works on merit, discernable from the submission for the Ingenuity Small Sculpture Prize. The selection of the panel will be final.
DELIVERY AND COLLECTION
All works must be delivered to Mullumbimby Museum, 17 Myokum Street on October 5. No further responsibility will be taken by the committee for works not collected by October 16 including purchased pieces. It is the artist’s responsibility to arrange for collection, or shipping of any sold work.
CRITERIA
Any 3D visual medium will be considered.
Ingenuity will not consider works that are racist, sexist, derogatory or defaming.
There is no size limit, either small or large; artists are primarily responsible for installation under supervision from the curatorial team.
The work entered must not have won a prize in a previous art competition.
NOTIFICATION OF SUBMISSION OUTCOME
Artists both successful and unsuccessful in their application will be notified by September 20, 2023.
INSTALL
Artists are obliged to transport, install, and then collect their work. Ingenuity will provide an artist and sculpture information plaque to be placed near the work.
DURING THE EXHIBITION
We encourage artists to be present on site regularly to engage with audiences. It is our aim that the local community meet their local artists to engage in a broader conversation on art experience and creativity.
SALE OF WORKS
Works can be for sale, but not necessary. Creative Mullum will take a commission of 30% on any sale.
DATA COLLECTION AND IMAGES
The information collected for your entry will be used to contact you now, and in the future, unless you inform us in writing not to do so. Creative Mullum reserves the right to use images of art work entered for future promotional purposes.
