Creative Mullum exists to champion the vital role of art and creativity in community life, viewing it as the ‘heartbeat’ of Mullumbimby and the wider Byron Shire. Our purpose is to build a sustainable, inclusive, and efficient organisation that fosters innovation and participation across all creative disciplines—film, music, visual arts, performance, and writing. Our identity is rooted in the community ethos, authenticity, and collaborative spirit that defines the Northern Rivers

We acknowledge that while our philosophical heart is Mullumbimby, our footprint and vision extend across the entire Byron Shire. Our members join to connect, network, and collaborate with other artists, strengthening the creative ecosystem from the ground up.

We are committed to fostering inclusive, grassroots participation that elevates art as the heartbeat of community. By focusing on consistent communication, clear member benefits and a diversified funding approach, we are strengthening the connection between artists and ensuring the regional arts sector remains vibrant, innovative, and sustainable for generations to come.

We operate on a strong foundation of existing community goodwill and successfully demonstrated capacity for financial self-reliance, proven by recent successful fundraising efforts. This new phase is about formalising our governance, clarifying our mission, and building the robust systems needed to support long-term creative and community outcomes.
