We believe that creativity is not just entertainment, but a vital part of community storytelling and connection. Creative Mullum supports the development of new work through programs like grant auspicing and application support, ensuring that local artists have the financial and administrative backing to bring their visions to life. We encourage innovation and the exploration of all art forms, including music, theatre, writing, and visual arts, recognising them as the core identity of our community.

— Community: Building Connection
Our primary goal is to reconnect and strengthen the bond between artists, residents, and local organisations. We host regular, facilitated networking events specifically designed to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration and the formation of project teams. By partnering with community-oriented spaces and like-minded organisations we ensure our activations are inclusive and accessible, making art a central, communal experience.

— Collaboration: Partnering for Impact
Creative Mullum actively seeks out strategic partnerships with local organisations, small businesses and media to broaden opportunities for our members. We collaborate with the Byron Shire Echo, the Byron School of Art, Mullum Civic Hall, Create Art Studio and many other local businesses and organisations. These collaborations are key to successful small-scale projects and create opportunities for the community to connect.

— Opportunities: Activating Local Voices
We focus on creating tangible opportunities for artists to showcase their work and develop their skills. Our plans include developing more opportunities for local artists and professionals to connect, and exploring new initiatives that foster creation and learning across multiple art-forms, like establishing a ‘Mullum Moth’ storytelling event to celebrate local voices and create opportunities for writers.

— Education: Practical Support and Growth
We aim to provide practical, sustained support that helps our members grow professionally. This includes the critical service of grant auspicing and application assistance, helping artists navigate the often complex funding landscape. We are also committed to formalising our governance and systems to build a robust, sustainable organisation that can better serve the long-term needs of the creative community.

— Growth: Achieving Sustainability
To ensure the long-term health of the creative sector, we are actively working to build financial sustainability and improve our own infrastructure and stability. By diversifying income through grants, sponsorships, and fundraising, we aim to build the infrastructure necessary to support the continuous growth of our creative outcomes for artists living and working in Mullumbimby and the greater Byron Shire.
